does the P5GD2 support DDR RAM as well as DDR2?

No support for DDR1, just DDR2 4200/5300

If no one here knows, the best thing you can do is look at the latest version of Linux and check for compatible/supported hardware. It's always best to check what hardware the software supports, rather than trying to find out what software the hardware supports, because this is near impossible. Unless someone knows for sure and can tell you.
