1) Is the 2200+ just a factory overclocked 2100?

2) Has anyone overclocked the AMD 2200+ yet. If so plz post the results
and also if possible plz post the benchmark scores and the name of the
benchmarking sofware that u used.

OH! And if u are a tru overclocker who is runnin watter colled plz post
what overclocking results u achieved with the water cooling. And plz do
the same and post the benchmark score and what sofware that u used.

Tnx

1. It is a 2200+.

2. I have mine at 11x178 @ 1.75v currently. I unlocked it by connecting the 5th bridge of L3. Just made a horseshoe shaped connection around the laser cut with a conductive ink pen. It stomps a P4-2.66GHz chip. lachen
Air cooled too.

Ok so let me get this straight.

A 2200+ is "NOT" a modified 2100, correct?

OCing it to 1,958 MHz is really not that big of a jump from a stock 1.8 (plz don't take it personally, just an opinion). I would figure u would have at least broke the 2.0 barier, if not 2.1. But thas right ur runnign air cooled (VW Style I call it)

L3 Cache...the 2200+ has L3 Cache???

Tnx

first off xp 2200 is designed to be eqivelent to a p4 2.2ghz and i dont think it stomps p4 2.66ghz chip if you overclock that much chances are your cpu is just on the edge of being burnt unless you got a seriously good cooling and i dont think a p4 2.66ghz been made yet...

The 2200+ is NOT a factory overclocked 2100+. The 2200+ has an entirely different core. It uses a .13 micron process (Thoroughbred core) , resulting in less voltage and less heat theoretically which would mean better overclocking. The 2100+ is based on the Palamino core and is made using a .18 micron process. However, from what I have heard the 2200+ chips have actually run much hotter because of a decreased cooling area. The real value overclocking champs are the 1600+ with the AROIA and AGOIA steppings or the 1900+ with the AGOGA stepping. Most will go to 1.85ghz (above 2200+) for under 70 dollars for the 1600+.

Whoa, really, nice. Now u really got me thinking. I am still lookin into doing my first bare bone build. At first I was thinking of getting a 2200+ but was disapointed of the 2200+ 266Mhz FBS. So I decided to wait alittle for the Opteron's to come out. Although it will be some time for me to see a FBS 333Mhz Athlon. So 'now' I might just go with a cheaper, lower performing, CPU. And for a the performance specs that u are now showing me I am very obliged to go with a 1600+. And just wait next year for the Opteron series to come out.

Tnx Bro

I am using air cooling on my XP2200+. I have had it up to 2.1GHz but it was running a little too warm. Sandra benchmark shows mine beating a P4-2.66 by a fair margin, considering the 2.66 is almost 700MHz faster.

So (at the risk of sounding dimmer that the offspring of a village idiot and a TV weather girl) will the 1900+ be clockable to a higher speed than the 1600+? With out the aid of water cooling (Just a CoolerMaster Het Pipe).
