I was wondering what the best [hopefully also easiest?] linux os was? I haven't ran a Linux OS for a while [ Redhat 6.0 ], and was wondering what is good now? Maybe a web-site with info on this sort of thing?

I personally do not use linux however I know alot of people who do. Red Hat linux 7.3 just came out and it is good. I have heard Mandrake Linux is the easiest to use. I havent tryed SuSe. Well hope this helps a bit. Maybe you should try linuxiso.org for info .

Slackware 8 is one of the better hardware related Linux versions. But Redhat is good for beginners...

okay thanks len444 i'm almost done downloading them all, 5 CDS!! I'm also downloading Linux-Mandrake too, which is another 3 CDS. I just hope it's more newbie-friendly eye roll I also hope they support my vid card automatically as I wouldn't know how to get a driver for linux

right callsign another thing is to change track at once to disk at once, if you have the selection/ choice to make- i've got easy cd creator 4, and i burned 7 disks w/ track at once- chucked them in the trash- useless- you should be able to see individual files on the burned cd's as a confirmation that your ok. check the how to burn iso files for your specific burning software (at www.linuxiso.org)

another thing is to check the md5sums of the downloaded iso file for exact match prior to burning the cd's- i downloaded the iso files to windows partition (fat32- not sure how many file types will allow this)

or, get daemon tools...

it allows you to mount ISO images as a "virtual CD-ROM" (computer will treat the ISO as a CD-ROM) so all you have to do is go to your CD burning program of choice, and select CD copy. select the fake drive as your source, and your burner drive as your final place. there you go, a perfect CD copy.

SuSe 8 is great for beginners because thier configuration tool is so good. 8.1 is coming out in a few days and it should be good. After using that for a while use Gentoo. Its the fastest and most stabel but nearly impossible to install.
