My older PC AMD Athlon 64x2 3800+ on a Winfast 6150K8MA board
running XP PRO
It slows down and some apps dont run. Then i run norton system works and finds msvcr 80 dll missing. I get download from microsoft and install. then runs good for 3 to 6 months and same problem missing msvcrdll
again. Is this caused by my OS or my computer? Bob |

I think it's time for a good cleanout, sounds something is lurking in your system that is not detected by Norton. How old is that Norton? What version? Legitimate? _________________ We hate rut, but we fear change.

You aren't alone with this problem! The "missing" file may not be in the proper folder for the device. Or if it has been renamed (OS changes/updates), the association may not be a true link for a process. Check this link about where the msvcr80.dll file(s) should be.
It is part of the "C" run-time library. _________________ F@H.. to solve mankind's maladies.. in our lifetimes! |

Sounds like ur HDD could be failing for both things, slowing ur system down and files misteriously missing.
try to get the disk utility from ur HDD manufacturer and run the tests to see if it detects some problems on ur HDD. _________________ "I have only come here seeking knowledge,
