I'm itching for a new desktop or maybe just a upgrade. Could use some help. I know only very little what processor goes with what motherboard and so on. But I am good at putting them together. 3 - 4 years I build my last computer. I only have the spec's from the windows performance page. Currently I have:
AMD Phenom II x4 910 processor (quad core)
8GB ddr3 Ram
And the rest is all crap, don't even remember what motherboard it is.
Should I keep the motherboard, processor, ram and upgrade the rest or give it to my 4 year old daughter and build one from scratch?
Money is a bit of an issue. Needs to be under $1000. I usually start my builds with a good motherboard and the best processor. I'm itching for the new AMD fx 8 core http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113284
No clue about motherboards. I need 16GB of ram and a decent graphic card.
I like fast response times, surf the web, play a few games (Diablo III) nothing extreme.
I can always add a few non crucial items later, dvd player, hard drives, sound cards and so on. Lets focus on the heart of the computer.
Thanx for any and all help

if the itch really needs scratching...

or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820103016 (if you must have 8 gig sticks that are on the memory support list)

with the 8350 should be a pretty good combo.
get a proper psu...

and this vga card is decent...

if the mobo doesn't come with the bios to run the cpu out of the box (needs p1.30 or later), you can use the 910 to update it.

most onboard sound is pretty good these days, so i don't see a need to think about that.

realistically, your current cpu (quad-core deneb) with a newer vga card would prolly do what you need, unless your power supply is under 650 watts. you might need a new mobo, too, but don't know what you have currently.
