|
|
Hi,
I am looking for the best motherboard to match my (older) CPU Athlon 64, 3800+ (ada3800iaa4cn) AM2 socket and 2 modules 1 Gb DDR2-667 and if possible 1 module 512 Mb DDR2-533. I need to have a PCI-E port too.
I am considering SLIs even if I will not be using dual cards, and also newer boards supporting AM3 (with of course AM2).
I want good performance, of course, and just a smart and nice board in general.

AM2 + DDR is not possible. Sell off the memory and get some DDR2 or DDR3, then you can recycle that AM2 CPU.
What is your budget for the board? You may even be better off buying a board+CPU+memory in one package deal... _________________ We hate rut, but we fear change.

Hi,
it is DDR2. But I have all parts except for the MB, it is just get use of these parts I want to buy one.
I think that my max budget is around £ 50-60, but if I get excited maybe more.

All online shops I checked have only one or two DDR2 models and those are not top of the line. I guess I missed the fact that even DDR2 has gone completely out of fashion.
I'll see what I can find... _________________ We hate rut, but we fear change.

You cannot go wrong with the ASRock N68 board, solid, reliable performers... _________________ I have been programming on computers since the ZX81.
