Hi all. First time here and I hope you can help. I have recently attempted to upgrade from 4gb ram to 8 gb.
I have an Intel DQ965GF motherboard and am attempting to install 4 x 2Gb DDR2 PC2-5300.
I have a problem. None of this new RAM is being discovered (if that makes sense?). I understand that with dual rank memory they have to be installed in matching pairs (this may be where problem one occurs since one pair of sticks have identical numerical markibgs but the other two differ slightly (could this indicate that they are not matching pairs?)). I have tried the seemingly 'matching' pair on their own and nothing. I have tried them with a pair of my old 1gb sticks, the old sticks show in the bios but the new sticks don't (the ports show the message - not installed).
As far as I can ascertain the RAM I have purchased is compatible with the DQ965GF so am I missing something glaringly obvious here or am I making a school boy error? I have replaced these RAM units before but have only replaced like for like following the failure of individual sticks.
I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.
Any advoce greatly received.
Cheers[/img] |

| I should add that I have updated the BIOS version and BIOS drivers to the most recent versions. |

Total system memory noted in the BIOS splash screen, but not by the OS? With 4 GB or more of system memory, you need a 64-bit OS version.
But get a diagnostics program such as Aida 64 from www.aida64.com/ or Belarc Advisor from www.belarc.com/ . They do an in-depth analysis of all components, and can display the true rating of memory modules and CPU/GPU lineage.
Yes, with multi-channel memory setups, the modules have to be identical.. in pairs or triples. But different brands can be mixed, as long as the timings and amount are identical.
Looks like your modules are not listed in the link evasive provided. _________________ F@H.. to solve mankind's maladies.. in our lifetimes! |

That is an ECC DIMM for use in servers. You can only use non-ECC DIMMs in this motherboard. Not compatible. _________________ We hate rut, but we fear change.
