if you are putting xp on it, then you need to load the "f6" driver for the install to see the drive... or maybe that mobo has an "ide" mode for the hdd controller, which you would set in the bios.
and possibly the same with vista... it may not have the driver built in that it needs. win7 would prolly have no problems.
that quick blue flash is a blue screen of death, and is happening probably because you are trying to load an OS that was built in another machine. sometimes it works, mostly it doesn't.
if you look in the bios at "integrated periphials"...
then at "onchip ata devices"...
look at the "raid mode" setting... if on IDE, you should be able to load the os pretty easily, but you lose whatever bells and whistles that sata drive has to offer. raid or ahci modes might need the "f6" driver i was talking about. it would be prudent to try to get it in at least ahci mode, if you can get the driver... pretty sure vista lets you use a flash drive to install it.
it is also possible you are putting the drive on the extra controller (marvell) that is in there, and vista needs that driver to recognise the hdd.
looks like you might need the driver either way (after looking in the manual)... you might as well be in raid mode.
here's the link to the driver you will need.
http://www.msi.com/service/download/driver-17380.html
unzip the folders in another machine, and put put the contents of either the x64 or x86 folders (depending on which version of vista) on a flash drive that is formatted FAT32, and plug that in when the OS install asks for it (probably the same area where it is saying "no hdd detected").
you should be able to browse the flash drive to get there.
make sure you are using one of the intel sata ports, the marvell will not do you any good, unless you find the driver for it. _________________ my main rig...
