| In the BIOS I can't find out how to adjust the latency for my RAM... It is a foxconn G41MXE and the BIOS really suck, my dad has been a computer programmer since early 90's and he can't even find it... Is there a piece of software that will let me do it in windows? |

Check my posting ( http://www.motherboards.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=120620&start=10 ) about diagnostics programs. Best to use the "SPD" factor for setting memory timings. For actual ratings of memory modules, a diagnostics program is the only way.
If the BIOS cannot precisely set latency timing, an error message would be displayed during the POST process.

here's a free program that is a quck, easy way to see what you have right now.

on this page you can get the lates tbios, drivers, and a utility called "fox one" which looks like it might be waht you are looking for...

I know what I have so I don't need cpu-id, I installed the disc that came with the motherboard so I don't need updates. I need a way to adjust RAM latency in windows. NOT in the bios. |

downloaded the trial version of aida64, any idea how to adjust memory latency with it? Or is it purely a diagnostics program... |

The BIOS pages are the only place to set timings for memory. This ensures the best stability for the OS to become active. After the OS has fully settled in to its routine, some feature 'enhancements' may be made to the setup. But memory timings are not altered, nor can they be adjusted by the OS. The OS can only read BIOS settings.. not alter them. The BIOS is locked in when the OS is active.
Memory paging and flushing can occur several times per second.. as needed. If the paging process is not precise, then repaging cycles can result in a system or Kernel dump.. with an associated BSOD.
Memory timings are specified by the manufacturer, after timing trials.. to rate the optimum performance. If doing any overclocking, work with 'faster' memory types to stay within bounds.
The CAS and RAS numbers assigned to memory are very interactive with each other.. and microseconds in delay can mean failure to page properly. Memory intended for "extreme" gaming or other high-speed applications are best suited for needs of timing enhancements. Standard-grade memory types are not.

try the tech support tab, at the bottom.
also, a majority of the time, the disk you get with the motherboard sucks because it usually has outdated drivers, in which case the maunufacturers website provides newer drivers. also new bios may not suck as much as an old bios.
the "fox one" program may or may not give you the latency controls you want, but it is designed for that mobo, and it'll give you general control in windows of fsb and possibly multiplier and voltage, which will do you more good than little tweakings on the timings on an old, not-so-hot, non-performance-having mobo... like the one you are trying to tweak.
