The Mother Board

Hi all,

I am upgrading my computer after nearly six years. I have been out of the loop for a while and just want a second opinion on the components I have chosen. I will use the comp for gaming, ms office, and web surfing. I do most of my gaming on console, but prefer the pc for mod-heavy games like elder scrolls and minecraft. I don't require maxed out graphics, just decent graphics with low to no stuttering. I am trying to keep my cost as close to (or below) $600 as I can. Here is what I have chosen:

I am recycling the drives and peripherals from my current pc and throwing all this into an antec 900. Any mistakes I am making on compatibility or quality? Any suggestions for reducing the price? These are $635 on newegg at the moment.

Replace your harddisk as well if it's 6 years old. They do wear out and become slower over time, no matter how much you optimize or defragment.

lol, my system drive was purchased in 2003. So it's almost 10 years old! I did some more looking and came up with this build instead:

I dropped the vid card. I think I can survive with the onboard graphics for a month or two. How's this look?

I suspect you are recycling your case then. If not, that's what is missing. And check if your optical drive is SATA as you don't have PATA/IDE connectors on your new motherboard. You'll have a challenge installing your OS otherwise lachen

I have an antec 900 I am going to be using. Yeah, the optical is SATA, but that old disk drive is not. I was going to grab an adapter, but I think this will work out better in the long run. Thanks for your help. I feel a lot better about throwing down that much $$ after a second, more expert opinion.
