I usually don't have to, since my country is quite moist climate most of the time. If you are living in a dry place it's worth considering. _________________ We hate rut, but we fear change.

If moving about frequently while working on sensitive electronic equipment, a static mat or static grounding may be required. But with humidity levels above 45%, static problems are fewer. Temperature also is involved in the 'safe' level of humidity.. warmer air can hold more moisture than cool air. But wearing clothing that is not synthetic is also good practice. There are anti-static sprays available, for garments.. and furniture. Even those "cloths" you toss into a dryer can be effective, if wiped on static-prone surfaces. But only if previously used, would they not leave excess residue.
A static-grounding strap connecting you to the equipment which is grounded also is an acceptable status to ensure no static damage to sensitive electronics.
It is always (?) "fun" during cold, dry periods; you scuff on a carpet, sneak up behind someone or a pet, and "spark" them! That discharge could be several hundred volts or more, but very low current. Electronic chips can become DOA instantly, if they get such a shock! _________________ F@H.. to solve mankind's maladies.. in our lifetimes! |
