is there any way to set the bsod report generated to a different drive than the c drive. i have an ssd, with no pagefile allocated on the c drive, but on another drive. i'd also like that other drive also to recieve the minidump on bsod, or i could put it to another drive, just any drive other than c.
TIA

This is where you can... Where it shows %Systemroot%\Minidump you can change it, but if I remember correctly the syntax it uses (ie %xxxx%) is low level (DOS like) so it is working out what the other drive is...

oh, yeah, that's the place. i am using win7, but same place, should'a seen it.
guessing i can just put a d:\ in there to goto the other drive's root?
i get a warning about no page file being found, but i got one on the d: drive.

been having a very sporadic bsod 19 "bad pool header" that i need to bang out on the bew build in my sig. it is pretty rare, maybe once every couple pf days, seems probably driver related.
main thing though is to get it off my ssd.

It could be the PSU 610w isn't to strong these days, and if it gets warm (rooms ambient temperature), the PSU may be struggling to cool off...

that's a great tip... i do have a few newer psu's laying around i can try. i also have some doubts about my ram, which i pulled from another system with hiccups, but thought i could just clock this stuff down and it'll be fine for me.... could def be the ram.

not sure when i'll have any ram to change out, not really keying on this too hard right now. although ram is cheap...but i am cheaper.

so after a few days of totally bsod-free computing... i just installed a new bd burner in my system which i have attached to the on-board sata ports. i moved my 7240 (which has a problem burning dvd's all the way thru, so it'll be my ripper) to a kouchtec add in sata controller card, as it has good speed and firmware for those tasks. these changes seem to be fine, as i've both ripped and burned stuff successfully... but two times now i've stepped back to the computer to find it's bsod'd with a 3b stop code seeming to point at dxgkrnl.sys (although these reports look at different components than what i originally read)
i see the two smalldump files sitting on the d: drive, so that worked successfully...
they show up as "DUMP3b2b.tmp", and "DUMP384e.tmp", and are only about 280 KB in size. i loaded bluescreenview from nirsoft, generated a html page (is there a better report i can generate?)...

i should add i've run memtest on this system with no errors on a pass, the ram is set to run at 1066, which is clocked down from its native clock.
both times the bsod's happened, the computer was sitting idle after ripping and writing dvd's.

DUMP384e.tmp 8/15/2012 6:25:23 PM SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION 0x0000003b 00000000`c000001d fffff800`02c76152 fffff880`09118800 00000000`00000000 netbt.sys netbt.sys+5faa800 x64 ntoskrnl.exe+7f1c0 D:\DUMP384e.tmp 3 15 7601 285,761

DUMP3b2b.tmp 8/15/2012 8:14:46 PM SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION 0x0000003b 00000000`c000001d fffff880`044ce871 fffff880`0809b1f0 00000000`00000000 usbohci.sys usbohci.sys+5f871 x64 ntoskrnl.exe+7f1c0 D:\DUMP3b2b.tmp 3 15 7601 286,977

EDIT : and now just got another one just sitting here reading this post, here's the report...

DUMP3938.tmp 8/15/2012 9:11:13 PM BAD_POOL_HEADER 0x00000019 00000000`00000020 fffffa80`09d61c20 fffffa80`09d61c60 00000000`0404004a PctWfpFilter64.sys PctWfpFilter64.sys+1a3e4 x64 ntoskrnl.exe+7f1c0 D:\DUMP3938.tmp 3 15 7601 286,785

so that one was totally different. gonna drop this ram down to 800 speeds for now, see if that ends this.

Did you already get around to swapping the PSU with another one?

That was merely a question for information, not trying to push you... Get well soon...
