Hi all,
CPU
AMD 8-Core FX-8120 3.1GHz
Mobo
ASUS M5A97 Pro AMD 970,DDR3,USB3.0,SATA3 6Gb/s,ATX M/B
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_AM3Plus/M5A97_PRO/#specifications
OR
ASUS M5A99X EVO AMD 990X,DDR3,USB3.0,SATA3 6Gb/s,ATX M/B
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_AM3Plus/M5A99X_EVO/#specifications
I need 32G RAM. But I couldn't find a DDR3 1333/1666 8G module RAM to match ASUS mobo. Corsair RAMs don't list this ASUS mobo series in their Configurator.
After hours of searching I found
Crucial® Memory Advisor results for the ASUS M5A97 PRO Motherboard
http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=M5A97%20PRO&Cat=RAM
part image
32GB kit (8GBx4)
DDR3 PC3-12800 • 9-9-9-24 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR3-1600 • 1.5V • 1024Meg x 64 • • Part #: BLS4KIT8G3D1609DS1S00
Unfortunately it is NOT available here.
Pls help. TIA

Welcome to the motherboards.org...
I am using the M5A99X EVO - great board, loads of features... Running 4 x 4Gb Corsair in it, runs like a champ... What do you require 32Gbs of RAM for? _________________ I have been programming on computers since the ZX81.

Asus QVL:
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_AM3Plus/M5A99X_EVO/#MSL
Lists NO 8GB modules (not sets!) at all so basically it has not even been tested with ANY 32GB configuration yet according to Asus. This is the list for both these boards. _________________ We hate rut, but we fear change.

Noted and thanks. I'm prepared to upgrade to this mobo

Testing cloud computing. The servers are running on VMs of Orcle VirtualBox.
Edit:
1333Mhz or 1600 Mhz ?

The faster stuff, how many VM's are you running at once? _________________ I have been programming on computers since the ZX81.

I have about 30 VMs installed on the box. But NOT all of them running at the same time. This box is for testing ONLY, not for production.

You'll be OK with 16Gb, providing you are not running on windows... I run VM's off VMWare in Ubuntu and they very rarely slow up... 8Gb sticks are the bleeding edge at the moment, there is a possibility of compatability... Have found though, there have been no issues with Corsair RAM and ASUS boards for a long while... _________________ I have been programming on computers since the ZX81.

I tried it on the 1Gb 5450 and found some graphical slowdown... (Obvviously on desktop related operating systems).. I upped it to an nVidia 430 with 2Gbs of onboard RAM and that seemed to improve it a lot (shame about the flakey nVidia drivers in Ubuntu 11.10 though - 12.04 has seemed to have ironed that out).. _________________ I have been programming on computers since the ZX81.
