Here is a link to the specifics of that motherboard model.
It has dual-channel memory design, which means there are two "banks" or channels of memory access. This equates to a faster paging speed, and improved performance. But the two channels must have equal amounts of memory, preferably matched pairs. But different brands of memory can be used, as long as amount/speed, voltage and timings are identical. Check the Asus QVL (qualified vendor list) for recommended memory types. Memory speed depends on the CPU used, with its FSB speed and other factors. Faster memory types will usually work well, at slower speeds.. but slower memory types will falter or fail a boot.
From that link to the specifications, ensure the memory type is up to the noted standards.. | Quote: | | 4 x DIMM, Max. 32GB, DDR3 2133(O.C.)/1866/1800/1600/1333/1066 MHz ECC, Non-ECC, Un-buffered Memory | .
Your user's manual will specify which color slots to populate first. _________________ F@H.. to solve mankind's maladies.. in our lifetimes! |
