Me, I bring them to the recycling place a few miles away where they are taken care of in a proper way.
Other uses might include donating them to a local charity. _________________ We hate rut, but we fear change.

We scrap them by using a guy that collects PC parts for scrap metal and recycling.. _________________ I have been programming on computers since the ZX81.

Most PC cases have a lot of steel.. not great on recycling price, but a few hundred pounds would buy the vehicle some gas. There is a lot of plastic on the cases also.. not really of worth. Some areas may allow placement of old PC cases at the curb on certain days, some areas require them to be taken to a recycling center. Very old systems are no longer useful with today's OS types, so they are best scrapped/recycled. The motherboards are considered "E waste", and hazardous to the environment! They should be recycled in a proper manner. Some computer stores do accept old systems for free, others at a low fee. But better that they don't end up in a landfill and pollute the environment.
As to the video, a CRT monitor is also considered as "E waste" and should be recycled. But beware of any sharp blows to the tube, as it can implode violently and cause serious injury!
Donation of an older computer system to a charity organization may not be acceptable.. ask first. You could also put it up for bids on a Web site (eBay?), and may get a decent offer for it. But don't include the hard drive!!! _________________ F@H.. to solve mankind's maladies.. in our lifetimes! |

i donate to a local charity that repairs/rebuilds PCs for local needs, or to the correctional system for education and rehabilitation uses.

I do the same as roach, but only after I've had them long enough to know I won't use them anymore. _________________ Mine go to 11 |

I like the charity idea. I haven't thought of that.
I'm only asking because I have one really large case and right now I am tight on space in my room so I am looking for a slightly smaller case. Plus its really heavy. _________________ ASUS H57 Evo
