Entry-level FirePro based on Turks GPU

AMD has updated its FirePro line of professional graphics card with a new level-entry product, the FirePro V3900. The new FirePro V3900 is aiming to replace the Redwood based FirePro V3800 and is based on 40nm Turks GPU paired up with a 128-bit memory interface and DDR3 memory.

The new FirePro V3900 is probably the final member of the latest FirePro lineup and shares quite a few similarities with already released FirePro V4900 based on the same Turks GPU but with GDDR5 memory thus offering higher memory bandwidth. As far as the specs are concerned, the FirePro V3900 packs 480 stream processors, 24 texture units and 8 ROPs. It works at 650MHz for the GPU and 900MHz (1.8GHz effective) for 1GB of DDR3 memory paired up with a 128-bit memory interface. The TDP is set at below 50W.

As far as the features go, the new FirePro V3900 features support for DirectX 11, Shader Model 5.0, OpenGL 4.2, OpenCL 1.1 and can drive up to five displays at one via DVI and DisplayPort 1.2 outputs (multi-monitor via DisplayPort MST hub). AMD claims that FirePro V3900 is currently the most powerful entry-level professional graphics card on the market.

The FirePro V3900 has a US $119 price tag and it should be worthy competitor to Nvidia's Quadro 400.
