I have a thing called mywebsearch.com that has infected my Firefox browser. I have searched firefox help files and removed everything I can find referred to this scumware. However on the Firefox home page in the search bar when you type in something it redirects you to mywebsearch.com. and Firefox add on "web of trust" blocks the site. I can type in the Google tool bar and no redirect. You can type in on the address bar and no problem with that. Posting a hijack this log hoping some of you brains can help.
Win Xp pro
Firefox browser, latest update
Ran in safe mode, Malwarebytes, Spybot. and Super antispyware
all found some things, maybe related.

Likely an auto-installed toolbar running in the background. Check your browser "tools" to see what is there, and you should be able to remove unwanted ones. If you have problems, here is a link to that "mywebsearch.com" for removal help. http://help.mywebsearch.com/sbar2.html
You should be able to set the preferred home site from the "Tools/Options" button. The "View" button will show "Toolbars" which you can customize, also. _________________ F@H.. to solve mankind's maladies.. in our lifetimes! |

Download this:
http://oldtimer.geekstogo.com/OTL.exe
open the OTL program
Click the "Scan All Users" checkbox.
Change the "Extra Registry" option to "SafeList"
Push the "Run Scan" button.
Two reports will open, copy and paste them in a reply here:
OTL.txt <-- Will be opened
Extra.txt <-- Will be minimized
After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.
Can be after this going to ask you to run the GMER rootkit scanner... _________________ We hate rut, but we fear change.

I fixed it by going into Firefox with about:config. Found a thing called funware in the columns of BROWSER. I don't remember which one but when I high lighted it and reset to default it fixed the problem. I have had these browser hijackers before and they are a b+++h to get rid of. I have been into about:config so many times I am getting good. I compared this Firefox to one on my other computer to get a feel about what is wrong. Does not work always but is good guidance. thanks for all the help I have gotten from this web site. I love it. _________________ "A pessimist sees a problem with an opportunity. an optimist sees an opportunity with a problem."
