|
|
Hi, i'm in the process of upgrading my pc... and i am noth sure which of 2 Asus motherboards to buy. Both boards have different chipsets.... one has a Hudson D2 chipset, and the other has a 960G. Are chipset differences important to me?!?!?! My pc is used for a variety of things, including some gaming, office use, internet, and some video processing etc.
The rest of my pc components are...
quad core AMD
1GB Radeon 5770
2 x 4GB DDr3
2 x 1TB drives
etc
I'll be honest, chipsets baffle me! Am i worrying over nothing?
Any help would be greatly appreciated - thanks guys!

The two choices I am tied between are....
ASUS F1A55-M LX with an AMD A6 3650 FM1 X4 Quad Core
or
ASUS M5A78L-M LX Motherboard with an AMD Phenom X4 965 Quad Core 3.4GHz |

Welcome to the motherboards.org....
What boards you looking at? The AMD series of motherboards start at 970, not 960, unless there is a new one on the way....
What CPU is it that you are intending to use? AM2, AM3, FM1...? _________________ I have been programming on computers since the ZX81.

Both good CPU's, the FM1 has an inbuilt GPU and a slower 'speed' that the 965, but it is newer and FM1 seems to be the way AMD are heading on the socket front... The 965 is old, but a tried and tested wortwhile CPU, it is probably the better all rounder... _________________ I have been programming on computers since the ZX81.

Hi - thank you
So, as I don't really need the feature of an inbuilt GPU, I should probably go for the 965 and take advantage of it's all-round speedier performance?
Regards
Neil

Don't forget to PEEK and POKE....
ZX81..
Forgotten it all... Did a lot of machine code... Once you could add and subtract, then you could multiply and divide.... _________________ I have been programming on computers since the ZX81.
