Well, looks like Win2000 is a deadend,so time to change direction, although not sure this one is any better! Can anyone suggest ATX (or larger) full-featured motherboard for any Phenom II X6 processor that has both floppy drive connector and NVIDIA SLI...I require both.
Would like (but not require):
1.At least five PCIe/PCI slots (2 for the SLI cards).
2.At least five SATA connectors.
3.Gigabit ethernet.
4.At least one FireWire, and three USB 2.0 ports.
After extensive google search I've been unable to find any boards having both floppy and SLI. Do any exist that slipped by me? Brand? Model number?
Addenda: I've decided I can live without the SLI/2 graphic cards, as my research indicates it limits selection too much. Still need the floppy drive, and would like one IDE connector. All other requirements remain the same. Also, need to be able to actually order board from a reputable source (Newegg and TigerDirect seem useless for older boards or even AMD 890FX ones). Suggestions welcomed!

I fear the floppy drive really has gone the way of the dodo. I can't find any PCI express floppy controller cards, maybe can find a PCI one but otherwise you'll have to use an external one, on USB.

i do know the 700 chipset amd boards are know to still have floppies, but they only do crossfire IF they have two 16x pcie ports.

Not what I was asking, but I think adding floppy via PCI card might be a solution...at least only workaround people on all the other forums haven't nixed. Got a link or brand/model number? Thanks! |

The 'ancient' 5.25" floppy drive is forever gone. But some apps still use the 3.5" floppy drive. Yet "new" units are scarce! You might try eBay in 'computers and networking', for used actual drives. There also may be PCI-type controller cards. The elder ISA-type controllers are not honored by modern mobos.
An easier path may be a USB floppy adapter, such as offered by New Egg.

errrr not able to find used PCI floppy controller cards even. At this time I think the only way is to connect an USB one to an internal USB header. Let me see what I can find in that direction....
