new available touch-based front-end, mostly windows 7 back-end. saw a demo of it at work, looks neat, but not really all that improved for desktops. much more aligned with phones, tablets and touch-stations.

The versions out there are alpha- windows 7 with a few differences.
Within the month we hope to see beta versions coming out(yay).
Rumors are that it will be 64 bit only and heavy into cloud computing. |

Ill load it on one of my computers once I get it and run some tests for everyone |

it'll be excited to see the new windows 8 task manager. i hear its been completely overhauled. also it will have system wide spell checking so no matter what your doing, you will always be spell checked.
there's a few performance increases to windows 8 as well. i cant wait |

I personally like Windows 8 too much. Here are performance test of Win 8.
Startup Time:
Windows 8: 18 Sec
Windows 7: 27 Sec
Shutdown Time:
Windows 8: 8 Sec
Windows 7: 12 Sec.
Wake-up From Sleep:
Windows 8: 10 Sec
Windows 7: 13 Sec.

Windows version 8 may have a lot of gee-whiz features, but is too hungry for memory! Most older systems (and laptops) with less than 1 GB of system memory available are not advised for the latest OS incarnations!
For upgrade to Win 7 or Win 8, minimum needs: (Per MS source)
1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver _________________ F@H.. to solve mankind's maladies.. in our lifetimes! |
