Too many versions... I want 64 bit (but would hope to be able to use 32 bit apps also).
I know that Home is too crippled for me.
But do I want :
Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
or
Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit _________________ Better living thru technology...

Depends what you do...
If you need (not want)
XP emulation
Easy domain joining
Higher level of data security...
PRO and Ultimate are for you... Other wise Home does the job... I say this though as pricing in the UK is at the usual rip-off level compared to the US pricing, and people tend to baulk at the price for pro and ultimate... _________________ I have been programming on computers since the ZX81.

Rumors about Win 8 look like it's "more wallpaper" on Win 7... perhaps the 'next ME'.
Besides encryption, why pay the extra for ultimate ?
Looks like Pro will let me emulate XP (but will 64 bit 7 Pro let me emulate 32 bit XP ?). After I download the 'compatibility package' (which in typical Win style is almost as large as the Win 7 OS).
Those guys will push me to Linux yet. _________________ Better living thru technology...
