|
After much consideration I've decided to finish with CPU folding with immediate effect. With the power I'll save I'll be able to add a couple of GPU clients which will give me a fair points boost. I had 20 CPU's getting an average of 160ppd each which adds up to 3.2k a day. I can get 6.5k a day with a single 250gts GPU so it just doesn't make any sense to continue with loads of CPU's.

Would an ati radeon x1950 be of value to you ? I put one in my last computer build a couple of years ago as it was one of the few GPU's supported by the folding programme but have not been folding with it as now I have Mortg@ge payments to contend with! _________________ - Webster - |

Thanks for the offer, unfortunately the X1950 is no longer supported...I already have a couple of redundant X Series cards lying around

Looks like they still sell for a reasonable price on Ebay at least.
Have F@H indicated how long they are likely to keep supporting the Nvidia GTS GPUs? _________________ - Webster - |

I'm pretty sure that they'll be supported for quite a while yet, there'd probably be revolt if they dropped support!! In any case, you can run GPU3 on them with the latest NVidia drivers, no problem. The reason the original GPU was dropped was because there was no support for any NVidia cards and the ppd on ATI X-Series cards was relatively poor.
