This guide has been one of Mnpctech's most popular requests this year. So finally here it is, how to install a window in the Xbox 360.
Yes, modding your Xbox will void your warranty, but this is Mod Brothers!
Tools & Supplies needed:
1. Ruler.
2. Masking Tape.
3. Pen or Pencil.
4. Safety Glasses for eye protection.
5. Dremel with 1.5" reinforced rotary tool cutting wheel, http://www.mnpctech.com/DremelDisc.html
6. Jigsaw with 18 TPI or higher cutting blade
7. Hand file or Medium grit sandpaper.
8. 1/4" u-channel molding trim for Xbox 360 shell, http://www.mnpctech.com/xbox_360_window_trim_molding.html
9. 1/8" thick Acrylic, Plexi-glass or Lexan sheet 7" x 8.5"
10. Scotch 4010 heavy duty double sided tape, http://www.mnpctech.com/scotch_4010_tape_of_the_casemod_gods.html
We will be cutting a window in the right hand side cover of the 360.
This is the window location and measurements we found works best for the limited space inside the 360. You can chose to do your own window design instead.
Using roll of masking tape to draw curved corners
Wear your Safety Glasses while using power tools for the following steps.
I'm using a Dremel with a 1.5" reinforced cutting wheel with Dremel to make initial cut in the cover, before using Jigsaw to cut out window. You can continue using the cutting wheel to cut the window, but the Jigsaw will do the task more efficiently.
Using Jigsaw with TPI cutting blade.
You can use either a rounded side hand file or medium grit sandpaper to smooth the edges of the cut plastic.
Now that window opening is cut. We need to grind down the shell's reinforcement spines (red lines) on the inside of the cover. This is so our window lies as flat as possible once it mounted.
Using reinforced cutting wheel to remove the reinforcement spines.
I'm using the flat side of the reinforced cutting disc to grind down the spines. You can also use drum roll sanding or grinding attachment for your Dremel.
You can medium grit sandpaper to smooth the surface.
Our window cut-out is finished.
Mnpctech sells the u-channel molding trim for Xbox 360,

I cut 24" strand of U-channel and attached it to the edge starting from the bottom of the window.
We're making our window from 12" x 12" acrylic sheet from Mnpctech
http://www.mnpctech.com/colored_acrylic_sheet_casemod_window.html
Since we using the 4010 tape to mount the window, your acrylic or plex-glass piece should overlap the opening by at least a 1/2"
We've cut our window to measure 8" tall x 7.5" wide.
I use Scotch 4010 tape to attach the acrylic window

You peel off red backing on the tape and then mount your window.
Reassemble the 360 and admire your work!

Taking apart your Xbox 360 for the first time can be intimidating for first timers. Xbox 360 Tool Kit makes it easier without destroying the plastic release tabs.
