I need to upgrade my CPU (Athlon 1Ghz Thunderbird) on a Matsonic MS8308E motherboard. What is the fastest CPU I can use - am I stuck with a Duron 1.3Ghz or can I use an Athlon Xp for example.

Just looked at the manual for your board and it looks like you are limited to CPUS with a FSB of 100/200mgz Athlon or Duron but not XP.
If you are thinking of upgrading then go for a better board and an XP CPU.
You will see the difference, Also go for a board that uses DDR ram and not PC133. This will give you more scope for the future.
