|
|
Hi,
I really seem to have messed up my computer this time. While replacing the northbridge cooler on my Shuttle SN25P I hit on of the resistors on the board and it came off.
I was told by a local computer shop / electronics specialist that it would be better to order a new board (FN25) rather than try to fix the resistor.
First of all, nowhere is in stock, and the shuttle distributor told me it would cost £160 which is out of my budget (I could probably get a whole new barebones second hand for less).
What do you guys think is my best bet. Fix or replace?
Pics below:
Also, would there be any harm in trying to start the computer with the resistor broken. I know it's a stupid question - depends on the resistor right? Could it actually cause any problems though, or would it just not work? |

Yes there will be harm if you start it without the resistor, and no there's no possible way it could work without it. _________________

Since you still have the component, solder it back in place and you should be fine. _________________ We hate rut, but we fear change.

Thanks guys, I've taken it down to the local radio shack type place who soldered it back for £2.
Haven't put it all back together yet but I'll post back if it works ok.
Camera was the Samsung NV3. Not a particularly great lens since it's a compact camera, but I was just as impressed with the closeups! |

Going waaay off topic here, but I'm crap with macro closeup photography and those pictures are so impressive. I wish I could do that, but it always comes out blurred and useless.
Anyway, great news about the computer |
