request for review of ASUS P4T533

Postby kanton » Fri Jun 14, 2002 3:45 am

I'd like to see a review of the ASUS P4T533 MB. The only reviews I can find are in a foreign language. The specs look awesome but I'd like to get a user review before buying.

Is there a date on the release of this board yet :?:

MY review:
Yep I have it, never been able to use it. 1 month now trying to get it working. The replacement is sopposed to come this week, finally!!!
I hope that it was just my board and not all of them defective since it is quite new. There are alot of jumper settings, ther're all over the board. From the review at Asus.com its a good mobo for overclocking. Lots of features. And of course it supports both 533 and 400Mhz FSB which is great if you want to use a slower processor until the price drops on the faster ones.

Ps- this is from my viewpoint and may not be as fancy to others (more technical folk)

Well I probably not getting that board now anyway. ASUS says it has a AGP pro slot. Will a new fangeled video card fit in there, I haven't bought one in 18 months :?:
And ASUS is pretty finicky. New BIOS like ever week or something.
I've had two of there boards. And there require a lot of maintenance.\
Never had a SOYO. I'm a little leary about anything that you buy at FRY's. But there new boards sound pretty good.
I've had one ABIT board and I'd have to say it was very stable. Then again it was a pentium board. Which I have always found more stable and reliable than AMD. I'm always toasting them dang things. Anyway I'm rambling on.

An AGP Pro slot should not rule out the boards. It depends on whether it is a universal AGP slot or not.

You can ask them:

1) Is the AGP pro slot universal? and if yes what voltages will it accept?

2) If yes then compare your cards voltage with the accepted ones and you know if it will work or not.

There is no manual online for the board yet, but it states:
AGP Pro Slot (1.5V only)

Could be what ppl reffer to as Universal AGP Pro (ie AGP 2.0 in the 1X-4X speed ranges), but its definately not Universal AGP (ie able to support older AGP 1.0 spec 3.3volt cards)
