which cd writer to buy?

Postby huh? » Sun May 12, 2002 8:06 pm

hey guys,
i jus bought a 32x tdk writer. im sorry to say but its a piece of $%^!@#.
burning at 32x is more like burning at 18x or 20x. so i decided it was
a waste of money getting a 32x when i can get the similar performance
in a 24x recorder. now, which brand? i'd perfer a writer that will burn a
cd without using that burn proof protection crap. some url links will be
very useful, along with spec for a specific writher/brand.

thanks a lot! :D

Cd Writers

Postby midgo » Sun May 12, 2002 8:36 pm

I have been using cd writers for a while and have seen and used a few brands.

The Plextor is a very good brand probably the best in my humble opinion.

I am using a Lite On at the moment purely because of financial consideration but I have found it to be a satisfactory writer that has given me no problems.

My humble Lite on is 12x 10x 32x and works very well.

I think the Plextor can go up to 40x write.

Check it out at www.newegg.com

Hope this helps.

LG is another common one I have seen lately. They are pretty good.

I actually have the TDK 24x burner and love it. It has worked flawlessly for me. Best Buy is really starting to expand their Plextor line for burners and now have a 20/10/40/16 CD-RW/DVD-Rom drive that costs $189. Not bad in my mind because you get the quality of a Plextor and still a pretty decent speed on the burner for not a ton more than a decent DVD and CD-RW would cost separately. Just a thought if you might want a DVD also :)
