Hello!

I am searching for a manual of the Olivetti BA2161 motherboard that is found inside a M4 464S Modulo system I recently got.
In the forum someone was searching for it in 2004 PDT_Armataz_01_14 and it was located successfully - apparently evasive provided it : viewtopic.php?p=247881#p247881

So I am in the same place, if anyone can help please reply!
Thanks in advance!

So, 15 years later, I am still here, still dishing out manuals for Olivetti boards :)

I'll dig it up from the offline collection.

ehehhe
yes that document matches my exact board - the "enhanced" version to be precise thanks a mil for sending me pdf!
The only thing different is that my board does not have the FDC 37C655 controller but the 37C665 one (entry board has the 37C651 controller) but other that that all match!
Kinda disappointing to find that you need an extra pcb module to use 3.45v cpus though

Thanks for the help evasive! really appreciate it!!!

You're welcome and thank you for pointing out the difference between the BA2161 and the other boards used in this series. This may help others down the road one day. Stranger things have happened. Enjoy your tinkering. Good luck in hunting down the 3.45V adapter. If I am not mistaken the PDF also has a part number listed for that, that might help

There are at least 2 more differences that I can tell:

1. Onboard IDE ports
- the entry level board has an ISA-based HDD controller and only has 1 IDE port on the motherboard labeled "UDH-IDE"
- the enhanced board has an extra VLB HDD controller embedded driven by and OPTi 82C611 IC and a 2nd IDE port on the motherboard labelled "UDH IDE-FAST"

2. Onboard VGA controller
- the entry level board has a Cirrus Logic 5424 onboard vga controller
- the enhanced board has a 5428 controller

I actually won't even look for that cpu-power module , chances are so slim I get one
Plus there are 5v cpu upgrades, IIRC you can get DX4/100mhz ones somewhat easy. But tbh the system is a nice DX2/66mhz one IMHO if one needs more speed for some retro-use then a move to pentium ss7 systems is way better than any 486 upgrade.

SS7 is indeed the way to go for maximum speed on retro systems. Some of those ran circles around early Slot 1/Slot A systems :D

But then again, where did the tinkering go
