This is in regards to my Windows 10 Pro laptop.

The Task Manager shows the following at idle:

28% of memory being used
Windows Processes 81
Background Processes 56

Not knowing about this does this seem high? If its high what do I stop from running?

Thanks.....Mark

Have a base line laptop with Win 10, same effects. A lot of processes that seem excessive. The Task Manager can display all the programs and processes that are active, and overall performance. Any listings for "svchost" can be for individual processes, and there may be a lot. Don't stop those. The Windows auto-update should be active, but some other update features might not be required.
There may be some "live tiles" in the background, hogging network and Internet use, keeping you updated with news, weather, and other headline stories. Either disable or uninstall same, if not needed. As always, the 'START' menu should not launch anything automatically unless needed.
You can still check and control start-up processes, using the "msconfig" command. But do with caution, or the system may not come to life. If unsure, consult a pro.
