Hello.
I have this Acer Aspire 5672 from a friend who gave it to me to have it repaired.
I bought a used mobo and assembled the whole laptop: leds light up but I cannot hear the fan and there is nothing on display.
I am thinking about a faulty video card.
What else could the problem be?
Thanks a lot and best regards

A common failure item with LCD displays is the cold-cathode (CCFL) fluorescent lighting. Try an external monitor that is known good.
Connect the monitor first, then power up. Auto-sense should direct the signal to the monitor. Otherwise, use the "Fn" (function) key with one of the "F" keys marked with a monitor image. One sends video out, the other sends video to the display.
If video, then the inverter that provides the high voltage for the tubes is bad. Also possible the "F" key for brightness has been set to minimum.

Thanks.I beg you to excuse me, I forgot to say that I did try an external monitor but there was no signal.

Acer 5x7x laptops suffer from a badly soldered video chip. known issue. sometimes baking the motherboard in an oven for a few minutes will temporary solve the issue, however, there has been a mass-recall on these and other laptops because of this.
