XP Machines - Sharing

Postby meppwc » Mon Oct 24, 2016 5:13 am

I have 2 XP machines..........one is a desktop and one a laptop. I am trying to accomplish the 2 machines being able to access each others assigned shared folders.
On the laptop, when I go to "View workgroup computers", I can see the desktop machine, but when I select it I get the message of: \\Desktop is not accessible. you might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. Access is denied.

What I have I missed in the setup of sharing?

You have to allow other users to modify files/folders (permissions). Share drives and folders as 'common' shares to both systems. There is an extensive help guide for this within the Windows "Help". Ensure the firewall recognizes other units as 'fully trusted'.
