AMD Phenom II X4 965(125w) on a msi 760GM-p23(max95w) save?

Postby Hermann » Sun Mar 20, 2016 12:16 pm

Greeting!

I am kind of confused, since the AMD Phenom II X4 965 was listed as supported on this Website but msi warned about using 95+ watt processors on this mainboard proof(site is in German but the warnings are in English tho').
On the other hand they did not show this warning on the English site.. proof again

So is it save to use? Or should i better buy a new motherboard?

BTW sorry for my broken English, but I am not a native speaker... but you may have noticed that already.

If the motherboard provider warns about using a non-certified CPU, the advice should be heeded.
Could cause damage to the board or CPU.. possibly fatal.
The motherboard provider has a QVL (qualified vendor list) that notes what CPU, memory or other devices are tested and certified for use with the board model.

If you look on the english site list, the 965 is not listed as compatible... I would look at another board......
I have been programming on computers since the ZX81.
I am an apprentice trained Electronics Engineer with qualifications to back it up.
I have been repairing computers since 1996.
Yet to some people I still know nothing...
