Reading the lots of posts around Win 10 not been what the PC users Expected, the question about what is the worst MS OS ever came to my mind
I had read many bad thinks about Win Me, but I used for some years because my PC wasn´t powerful enough to run XP, I don´t had too many issues using it

Re: Was Windows ME the worst MS Attempt?
Don't forget 'way back when' DOS was the controlling system. DOS 4.0 was issued, and had some bad commands.. mainly disk utilities problems. 4.1 was quickly issued! I have seen almost all, from DOS 3.0 forward.
Win 95 was not all that bad, but users had to go to the "start" button to shut down. Not a real problem until you restarted.. then a disk scan had to be done due to improper shutdown. But there were three versions of Win 95 through 1997. Each was better than the previous. Win 98 was revised to Win 98SE due to some problems.
Win ME was a cross-breed, trying to be two different entities at the same time. Near identical to Win 98 in graphics, and also trying to imitate Win 2000 and could use NTFS. Could never be started in 'safe' mode without wanting to "call home" (MS help desk)! Win Vista had problems, some users hated it.. others liked it.
Have not previewed the 'professional' version of Win 10, but the 'home' version is too geared toward tablet and laptop use.. not to the true desktop. Too many useless apps and features. It has lost its familiarity of older Windows versions. Not everyone wants their private data stored in "the cloud". Or be constantly updated on news and weather. Or have silly games!
Win 10 is beginning to make Win Vista look better!

Re: Was Windows ME the worst MS Attempt?
I took the chance with ME because of the USB facilities and stuck with it for around 5 years with only a few issues

Re: Was Windows ME the worst MS Attempt?
None, all were equally good and bad with their own quirks and bugs... Vista was poor, but once fully updated ran fine for me... I went from win95 to win98, then from win98se to XP, used ME for a bit, much like 98se , but I never had it on my own system. Went back a step and used win2k for a bit and found it no real difference to any other windows operating system...

I have been repairing computers since 1996.
Yet to some people I still know nothing...

Re: Was Windows ME the worst MS Attempt?
Windows Me was setup once, never change. You got one chance to make it work, it would run quite stable, but adding stuff/programs, if something borked, completely start over. Didn't like it, went from Dos 3.1 to 5 to 6.22 to win 3.11, to 95, 95 OSR 2.5, to 98SE to 2000, to XP, to OSX... At home at least. During that time some Netware, SCO Unix, Linux, NT4 server boxen passed in my home as well...
We hate rut, but we fear change.

Re: Was Windows ME the worst MS Attempt?
I never really used Me for an extended period of time. But it has been widely discussed as being the worst clusterf*ck from Microsoft... XP was a decent OS for most, but is generally mentioned as the most security flawed OS ever produced.
