That command was "parkdisk" , "park", "parkhead" or similar. The servo motor head positioning did not return the heads to a 'park' position automatically, at the hub of the disks. The newer IDE drives are automatic in moving the heads to the 'park' area at the hub of the disks.
Reason for this, no data is stored in this area.. and there is least resistance of the heads to the disk while spinning up.
Once the disks get up to speed, a very thin cushion of air keeps the heads off the disk surface. That is only 3 to 7 microns for the air gap. The average human hair is about 1,000 times thicker! An inch equals 25,400 microns.

Guess that 'airplane' at the back of the line feels abandoned!
A "backplane" is a type of motherboard. But it has only device card slots, and a power connector.
There are no circuit chips present. Then "daughter" cards are installed, with all needed BIOS, chips and processors.
Was in use mainly as an expansion box with older computers that did not have enough room for a lot of device cards.
A dedicated connector cable with port bus cards connected the two units.
There were some obscure names on computers that did use a backplane board with device cards as a stand-alone unit.

That is a term from Medevil times, when falcon hunting was popular. An aide carried a wooden rack with extra falcons, so the Lord always had fresh 'chasers'.

What is sometimes called a "cat's whisker"?
That is what the phosphor-bronze detector wire used in a crystal radio was sometimes called.
The wire was springy yet strong, and placed in just the right spot with just the right pressure on a Galena crystal, you could tune in radio stations.

A "skeuomorph" describes the condition where originally it was physical and functional. Like true analog gauges in cars. But today with digital dashboards, the display is sometimes in analog form.
Then too, electric cars need no grille.. but it is there as a facade on some models.

The idea for today's cell phones can be traced back to the late 1940s and early 1950s with the Dick Tracy comic strip, and his "wrist radio".

Where did the term "watch your p's and q's" originate?
That is from the time when book and newsprint production used individual type characters cast in lead, set in a flat tray. For the capital "P" or capital "Q", no question as to which was which. But looking in reverse at the lower case characters, the "p" looks like a "q" and similar.

"Lead head" has a lot of meanings. How does it apply to the printing field?
A "lead head" was a thin sliver of lead, intended to create a space effect between words. It had no character face.

A typesetter was a person who took individual lead characters and arranged them in a printing tray so all were aligned and at the proper height. Then when finished, all went back to respective group trays. So "mind your p's and q's" when returning them or placing in the print tray!
