could still be an issue with drivers - this is why I keep at least one ultra-basic USB wifi adapter.

I'm assuming you don't have any other wifi adapters available to try and verify that way? perhaps grab one from your local electronics store and diagnose - if it doesn't help, return.

also, might have missed it - but have you contacted asus directly?

Me think install driver only, not the utility:
http://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1013128/

Windows 10 is listed for downloads:
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8Z77V ... _Download/

LAN driver:
http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/lan/Re ... 052015.zip
(both for 32 and 64 bit)

Try that.
We hate rut, but we fear change.

Win 10 has yet again undone my video settings as to the theme and screen saver! Third time!!
Maybe a screen saver is not needed with today's LCD displays, but the F@H screensaver is a minimal overhead feature while doing the GPU folding.
And the social media "apps" have returned too!!!!
Won't take many more instances, and I roll back to Win 7. :mb_grumpy::

Started the Win 10 F@H system this morning, had to reset some preferences.. and the screen saver.
Then got some updates, and Windows decided to install them without asking!! And now those apps I disabled are all active again, including Wifi auto-connect. That is the last straw. Windows 10 goes out this weekend, never to return.
May be great for social media freaks, but I have no need of it. And why should my programs and apps tell advertisers my habits, and then they tell me what THEY think I need?
Assuredly, a lot of IT personnel will be going bald from the Win 10 experience.
The "one for all" Win 10 version is not appropriate.. there should be business, portable and other versions.
Reality is out here, folks.

But that is my personal view.

Went through that whole process. Any feature or app not required or wanted was disabled (turned off or removed). Then when Windows got new updates, all was back to original status!

Check out DoNotSpy10... Bear in mind going back to win7 is not a good option as support is ending shortly so no bug fixes or security patches... I would stop with windows 10 or look at alternative route, such as linux or mac...

And WARNING if you don't donate to the app, it uses OpenCandy as part of the installation purpose. If using Malwarebytes it picks it up and you can delete it and carry on installaing DONotSpy. Opencandy is picked up as a PUP (Potentially Unwanted program) and after testing it caused no harm whatsoever to my system. Deleted it using Malwarebytes and ran two scans and nothing else was picked up.

Win 10 has one last chance to "do it my way or the highway".
Yes, Win 7 active support is done with, but has extended support until Jan. 14, 2020
I do have the AVG suite on all active systems, and they are kept in good health.
My primary system still has Win XP, and as long as AVG and Mozilla accept it, I am a 'happy camper'.
Would have to buy a lot of new programming to replace what is not compatible to any newer OS.

Re: Windows 10

Postby Karlsweldt » Thu Sep 24, 2015 3:31 pm

Win 10 has had its final 'curtain call' with me. Four times in the past month, the system has locked up.
Started the system around 8a EDT today, set the F@H app running. Did not check if still good, until after 4p EDT. FROZEN!!
More than 7 hours of no operation, burning up the wattage.. and delaying a WU from completion.
So this weekend, I roll back to Win 7. Win 10 is beginning to look like another 'strange child' from the M$ misfit hive.
Here is the event record of the lockup, four critical errors..
