Ethernet "Hijack" of a vehicle?

Postby Karlsweldt » Sat Jul 25, 2015 5:00 am

In recent news, Fiat-Chrysler Corporation® noted that over 1 million Jeep® and Dodge® vehicle types are being recalled due to a software glitch that might cause the vehicle to be 'hijacked' via the Internet, if using the "U-connect" program.
Two security researchers found the software flaw that could allow a hacker to take over control of an active vehicle.
They kept the finding quiet, only reporting the details to Fiat-Chrysler, who is implementing a fix of the problem.

Scary thought, if any newer vehicle with a similar system could be 'hijacked' in such a manner!

Anything that can be programmed can be hacked. Only physical barriers will stop that. I want a metal key, no remote sh*t when it comes to safety.
