Postby rascard2007 » Wed Jun 03, 2015 11:20 am

the folder is located in the windows folder an occupies more tha 4GB of disk space, seems to be a backup of installation files or something like that

Is it safe to remove the folder?

According to an explenation, best to leave alone...

See here....

I am loathe to delete folders within windows, too many borked windows from deleting something that looked unecessary but really was...

According to microsoft you can enable the removal of updates(which are unnecessary) within the disk cleaner now:
http://www.thewindowsclub.com/windows-u ... up-windows

That should, in theory, remove some of the duplicate DLL's for things which have been removed/replaced/updated. You should also consider running CCLeaner to help remove any unlinked DLL's.

thanks Mr.T the WIN7 Install is located in a 40GB partition of a 80GB HDD, I will move the data on the second partition to another HDD, erase the partition and resize the win7 partition to the 80GB that the HDD has because I´m running short of disk space in the Win7 Disk.

My PC has XP SP3 PRO / WIN 7 Home Pro dual boot

The disk is NTFS formatted, Is it Safe to do the resizing of the partition in XP SP using Partition Magic Pro or Is it better to do the resizing in Win7?

There likely are a lot of updates that cannot be uninstalled in XP and Win 7 in the parent folder. They can be zipped into a smaller separate folder, and maybe have only 25% or so of original size. If ever needed, can be restored. They are just 'dead' space-wasting files now.

ccleaner can remove the uninstall folders for windows updates. it can also clean out some old and useless restore points.

You are not alone in that matter. Same problem exists between many countries, as to exchange of computer programming, electronics, hardware and other items. It is actually known as "free trade embargo".
