Under about this Mac on other Macs it lists which slot has how much RAMM, as well as year. Not on this one for some reason

Found this, concerning the part number of the 1 GB module.. http://forums.crucial.com/t5/Crucial-me ... /td-p/4781
Beginning to wonder.. the OS on that iMac may be a 32-bit type, and can address a maximum system memory of about 3.5 gigs, including any devices with their own memory. 4 GB being the absolute. Similar to Windows OS versions?
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/82 ... 0&tstart=0
Have you tried using the 1 GB module in slot # 0 or first-detected, and the 2 GB module in slot # 1 or second?

I am running OSX 10.6.8 with 8GB, fully used. It is 64bit. I was mistaken on the iMac being close to my MBP, it is more than 2 years older and it seems to have an absolute memory limit of 4GB according to crucial and apple, so far I have not been able to find anyone using more than 4GB in that generation of iMac :o

imac model A1224 EMC 2133

Trying to find the best match for the 2 gig RAMM stick. From what I can tell its DDR2 5300 200 pin. Local computer store had 1 2 gig stick for @$35 but was of the SO DIMM laptop variety, that he researched as compatible.
Do any of the following from this page qualify as compatible to the 2 gig module I have in bank0?

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_nr_p_n_f ... 9729693011

specs for A1224 EMC 2133:

https://support.apple.com/kb/SP16?viewl ... cale=en_US
standard 1GB (one SO-DIMM) 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM (PC2-5300), supports up to 4GB

I would go to Crucial directly for your memory sticks:
http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/imac-2*0g ... /CT3265290

But if you are really low on cash or have to buy through Amazon for whatever reason:

I am ordering direct from Crucial. Interesting that Amazon has the same mem module. for a few bucks cheaper. No where in the listing at Amazon does it say new, though. I thought Amazon middles the sale and item shipped directly from Crucial. Listing did not specify.

Amazon. com normally lists both used and new items, noted so in the ad. If not available used, then new.
A lot of companies do the "middleman" deal, but Amazon also has many huge warehouses with real people.
