I'm looking to setup a first email account for a family member.

What would be a reliable one that doesn't require a telephone number or another email for verification?
If not, then the simplest verification.

I would like to find the easiest one possible to setup for this novice user.

This email account will be used primarily on the tablet I posted about already in the Networking Forum in the thread: [How to connect Polaroid PMID921X Android tablet?[SOLVED]

Something very new user friendly would be ideal.

LMK, thx :)

"Free" is not as important as SECURE. There likely are hundreds of free Email services, but how secure? And what features do you have? A basic subscription service with a secure provider might be less than $20.00 USD per month.
If not a secure service, then anyone could read your Emails easily. Encryption helps prevent that.
Found a link for "top ten" free providers.. http://free-email-services-review.toptenreviews.com/

Whether you have paid or free email you will encounter security issues. Especially as a "newbie".. Paying for security is only going to imply that warm and fuzzy feeling. Simply because when the wrong email slips through, poof.

And depending on if phone access is a possibility, both gmail and yahoo have apps available and widely used. Others like outlook, etc. I haven't used..

Just my two cents..

Please be sure to caution against clicking on links in emails.Emails purportedly from their bank/credit union/credit cards etc, requesting account verification are a big no-no. If any doubt, visit the financial institutions web site, and look for messages there.

Cannot be said often enough.. DON'T open any Email unless you know who it is from. There are hackers sending Emails out that look authentic.. but when opened, your system can be taken down.
Never, ever fall for that "You won a Lotto" or "Your Inheritance Notice". Outright scams.

Even when I get emails addressed to me by name, I still never click on links.

For the love of God, I just hope something like that doesn't exist because it would be an absolute goldmine for spambots.

I am sorry but in this day and age, you really need to show you are an existing human being with the advanced spambots going around.

It can be good in a way to give another email or phone number when you setup a new email account. Then if someone hacks you, you have a chance to recover it.

I use gmail and recommend it. They do collect data about you but that's not a big issue for me as I have a pretty bland ordinary life. If you are worried about google knowing about you then maybe another email service is for you.
