BIOS Upgrade

Postby mnewsome » Tue Aug 19, 2014 9:05 am

Have an old Toshiba SPA 40. Would want to boot to ubuntu from a USB. USB boot did not exist for this machine and I have the latest and last BIOS flash. I write to inquire about companies that advertised for BIOS updates. Never trusted them and so I write to ask are there any credible providers that offer such updates. Guidance sought

Unfortunately, some BIOS designs do not accept a boot path to USB storage media.
If the option to "boot from other device" is available, try that.
But the USB device has to have a bootable regimen.. in ISO format.
Check this link.. http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop/ ... on-windows

www.esupport.com usually does a decent job. however, isn't it easier to burn a DVD-RW of the ubuntu install? And that is in fact bios version 1.50 you are running?
