Office 2003 Replacement

Postby Mark H » Wed Apr 16, 2014 8:02 am

With the end of support for Office 2003, has anyone looked at replacements? I currently am trying Open Office 4.0.1 and SoftMaker Freeoffice.

FreeOffice is quite similar to 2003 in layout and function, and can associate Microsoft office, and Open Office file types as well. So far the only minor difference I have found, to insert an image, one must click on "Object" then "New Picture". Like I said, minor.

I can, and probably will, use Outlook.com as my mail client.
I have a photographic memory, only problem is, I ran out of film.

I like open office, but sampled office libre, and liked it better.
as an outlook substitute, there's Mozilla thunderbird. totally satisfied with that.

Hi,

I'm using Mozilla Thunderbird for work related emails and I'm also very happy with it. I could find no shortcomings besides some compatibility between Calender events from Outlook to Thunderbird. Perhaps just lack of education on my side.

Opted for Libre Office, and Thunderbird. Satisfied with both.
