I did note a link for a USB to game port dongle which may cure your issues. An option other than having to change the OS platform or rebuild the system!

Yes, a MIDI port is still widely used with digital musical instruments.

Been There Done That

Postby OneSpirit » Tue Mar 25, 2014 9:17 am

I'm afraid that won't work Karl. You see I have two of those dongle and they unfortunately do not work. Sure windows see it and I can calibrate them and everything, but they will not fly the helicopter ... I have no control at all.

So I'm afraid I have no choice but to 86 win7 64 and see if I can get win7 32 bit to work. If not ... back to the old mobo. :-|

Got the software installed

Postby OneSpirit » Tue Mar 25, 2014 1:24 pm

Okay I installed win7 32bit and I figure out how to install the gameport with the package I mention in the last post ... by going to the device manager ... highlighting the c media card and clicking on action and add legacy hardware ... so I was able to install the drivers so now I got game controller in my control panel and "standard game port" is showing where it should now, but I got an "!" next to it this message in the properties ...
Windows cannot determine the setting for this device. Consult the documentation that came with this device and use the resource tab to set the configuration(Code 34)

The problem is I don't know how to configure it. Anyone here know how? :-|

CH Products Combat Stick and Throttle

Postby OneSpirit » Tue Mar 25, 2014 4:08 pm

Okay ... from what I gather I have to get the configuration for the CH Product stick and throttle I have ... I contacted them to see if they had any information on how to manually configure these devices even though they no longer support the analog products ... if any one has an idea how to do this please let me know. :-|

Check the Control Panel for "game controllers" or "mice and other pointers". Should be a device listed, or choose what is used or closest to the device type. Then calibrate.
Most 'legacy' features are no longer acceptable to today's OS platforms.
Hope it doesn't come to needing a new controller the OS accepts, yet might not be compatible to the FS program. But hope for the best!

No Can Do

Postby OneSpirit » Wed Mar 26, 2014 2:43 pm

Can't calibrate it Karl ... when I add it or try to add it to the game controller I get that message ...

Windows tells me the gameport has the most up to date driver ... so it seems to be a matter of manually configuring the stick and throttle and I don't have a clue as to how to do that. :-|

Have you ever been to the CH products community? If anyone should know how to get this stuff working, it's the fellow-users IMHO...

Did that ... NO SOLUTION FOR WIN7 GAMEPORT

Postby OneSpirit » Thu Mar 27, 2014 12:09 pm

Yepper ... I have a post at the CH Hangar but Bob Church the heavy there has not posted in several days.... Actually I'm calling it quits ...

Well unfortunately I could not get the modified drivers for the gameport to work for me in 32 bit win7. I read where it worked for others, but it did not work for me. My FX8120 is faster than the i3 and all I want to do is run FS9 and since the FX8120 can handle FSX it will be sweet with FS9.

Therefore I am selling the mobo and i3 and installing XP 32bit back on my old mobo. For those of you in a similar situation I'm sorry I couldn't figure out a solution ... maybe you will have luck with those drivers and 32bit win7. It's solved for me with my old hardware, but I won't mark this solved but NO SOULTION :-|
