BIOS Update Help Needed

Postby c327 » Fri Jan 31, 2014 9:00 am

I would like someone here to help me select the correct version of BIOS to use. I looked at Intel's website and am not certain on what version to use. I would like to use the USB flash drive method if I can because my laptop burner program is not working. Or I will wait until my OS is installed and do it from there. Thanks.........

Mother Board - Intel Desktop 5 series
MOBO Model - DP55KG
MOBO AA# E47218-403
Currect BIOS is showing 3878 (original)

A presume you are going up to 5936. Use the zip file and extract it to a blank USB pen drive for the 'usb' way.
I have been programming on computers since the ZX81.
I am an apprentice trained Electronics Engineer with qualifications to back it up.
I have been repairing computers since 1996.
Yet to some people I still know nothing...

A USB storage device can be used for BIOS updates, as long as it is "bootable" and has the extracted files and update program.
The feature for "legacy" USB function must be set to 'active' in the BIOS.
The format for default data access in BIOS mode is FAT12. Any "small" USB drive of 1 GB or less is doable. The BIOS must support a USB boot path.
