I have noticed recently that Google's website shows it as https (secured)
with a lock next to the address space. I know it means secured but I have not used it long enough to form an opinion of it one way or the other.

it means you are using secure http so nobody can tap the stream of info using wireshark or similar. so it's good in this case.

OK That sounds good to me. Just something different than what I have been used to seeing for just browsing. I use Google as my start page because of the less clutter and also for searching.
