Hi,

My problem is that I recently shut down my computer via normal shutdown methods (in windows) and then moved the computer ten feet. Now I get no power when the power button is pressed.

I have the following components:
-Asus P6t deluxe V2
-G.SKILL 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9T-6GBNQ
-G.SKILL 3GB (3 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL9T-3GBNQ
-Kingwin 1200 watt PSU
-Core i7 920
-Amd HD Radeon 4870x2

Symptons:
After pressing the power button (or holding) there is NO activity. There are lights on the power/reset button on the internal switches of the board.

Tried:
-Many different RAM configurations
-new CMOS battery
-cleared bios memory
-reseated power connections to board and graphics card
-power supply test successfull
-removed all other components except the essentials, PSU, CPU, GPU, CPU power, GPU power, MB power, RAM. Those are the only things connected to the board.

Please please please help me figure this out. I have worked on this for the entire day and I have nothing else that I can think of to do. And to add to that, apparently there arent very many MBs out there that fit my CPU.

Try the troubleshooting sticky post for the back-to-basic-bare-setup tests.

I assume you checked the new power outlet it is connected to now including the power cable with something else that is known working?

It is not the power, since I have standby lights on the motherboard and on the power/reset onboard switches.

Taking out the motherboard for a "minimal" bootup is not really an option as there is a watercooling setup that isn't the easiest to remove. It cant really be anything wrong with the install of the mobo/cpu/gpu because they have been installed in their spots and working since 2009.

If I have 6 sticks of ram, are there any configurations that I could try? Would they cause the mobo to not even power up? If they could possibly be the issue I could go to best buy and just pick up some temporary sticks to test, it certainly would be the easiest thing to do/try.

Replace the CMOS coin cell battery with a brand new one (CR2032 3V lithium).

If that doesn'r help, if you check the sticky post you will see if you disconnect basically everything, leave out the ram and the GPU the board should give signs of life, eg beeping patterns. This way you can pinpoint if it's the board/CPU/power supply. And don't be fooled by "it has been running for years no problem", there's something called Murphy's Law.

Did you check that all device cards and power connections are properly seated? With many heating/cooling cycles, device cards may 'wiggle' loose in their slots. The only anchor point is the backplane slot. If a device card is not properly seated, the contacts may bridge the data bus and cause a 'no life' condition. Same too with power connections. While almost all do have a locking tab, it may not be 100% effective. Even if not moving a computer, and it getting a bit of a jolt, that is all it may take to cause loose device cards.
But first do as evasive suggested.. replace the BIOS battery. If more than 2 years old, it may have died.

Have had a few of these ASUS P6T die unexpectedly. Replaced them with the Gigabyte X58-USB3 to resolve the issue.
