Go into a local PC repair place (not a retail chain like Walmart), and have a discussion with them about what your looking for and budget.

What is offered here for ideas may not be available where you are..

What games are you going to play? Have you ever had a custom-built system before and what brand was in there, did you like it?

Just a few ideas to get you started...

For a great "off-the-shelf" package system, you might want to check the Alienware offers. But other sources (especially computer service shops) would be a great source to getting what you want. With a "package" system, you typically get a lot of unwanted software pre-loaded. But when you do it yourself, or have it made for you, you get a better deal.. although at maybe a bit higher price. Those "packages" typically help lower the purchase price, in hopes you will buy the software.
Get expert advice from a pro.. not from a mega-store salesperson looking for a commission. You could also check the displays at a "shopper's club" such as Costco, BJs, or other.
But if you are able to work with www.newegg.com/, check for their 'package' deals and 'bare bones' kits.. as well as 'open box' specials!
