I have asked this in different forums...
and gotten no response. Where do I ask about a problem, with MS Office 2007 and 2010 upgrades? Outlook has been extremely squirrelly.
So I don't have the same question in two different forums...Which one do I ask this of?
Thanks. _________________ Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside a dog, it's too dark to read.

Is this the same issue you were asking about 6 months back? If so, did you already reset your TCP/IP stack manually per my directions because cannot use winsockfix in windows 7? _________________ We hate rut, but we fear change.

No, not the same question. Outlook allows some people to have huge PST files., and others can't even archive because of some error (I have to look up the error messages, later).
Supposedly the maximum size of a PST file is larger in Office 2010. But converting the people with problems creates other problems.
I will continue this question later. I just recovered from some severe strain of flu, and don't have the energy to pursue this right now.
Thanks for moving the topic. _________________ Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside a dog, it's too dark to read.

pre- office 2003 - .pst files had 2gb limits.
office 2003 - 07 - .pst file can get to up to 20 GB's
office 2010 - .pst file can get to 50 GB's
if those file sizes are reach or exceeded, it can cause the .pst to be unusable.
there can also be examples of fat32 formatted hdd's that .pst resides on being limited to 2 or 4 GB's... that's just the nature of fat32.
so could it be one of these situations you have a .pst file that got used from a previous office installation... it wasn't imported, but simply dropped in the right folder, where it is let continue to grow (including the properties of the previous installation)...
but without knowing your actual question, this is just assumption and conjecture. _________________ my main rig...

Yes. However, the largest files are under 15 GB and work fine In Outlook 2007; yet a few have the problem even though they are using Outlook 2007 or even in one case, 2010. I have a screen shot of one error message (but would have to find it); the error messages are typical Microsoft vague blather.
I have tried uninstalling and deleting the account, clearing registry references to Outlook, installing the 2010 again from scratch, and this only served to make it freeze right away. I have to assume that the PST file is corrupt, but I am unsure how to fix a problem of that magnitude (since the PST contains tons of sub-folders, calendar, tasks, etc) -- perhaps I could put it on a different computer altogether...
Anyway, these PST files I'm having trouble with are all under 2 GB. Anyone else have anything like this problem? These people all work with huge attachments, so it really is an issue for them. _________________ Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside a dog, it's too dark to read.

First off, 15GB is massive. Last time I saw that, the guy had every email he ever recieved since 1998.
If this is Exchange, you may want to consider a public folder database of some kind.
In addition to Evasive's link, also look at this:

Make sure you get them to empty the deleted items. _________________ "Imagination is the only weapon in the war against reality." -Jules de Gautier
