Does anybody know of a good Audio File Management Program? confused

Something free would be nice, but I would be willing to pay for it. I'd need to
be able to test it first.

I need something to organize all my audio files/folders. I have a minimum
4000 MP3 files from at least 400 CDs that I need to get organized. When I added the CDs to my PC I needed to use different programs at times. That caused different track naming, CD data, etc. It's a total mess. crying

What I would like is a program which I can set the organizational categories.
IE:
Bands with names like: "The Blank" should be listed as: Blank, The

I'd like to organize my MP3 this way:

Alphabetically
Artist or Band Name
Album title
Release year
Song #
Song

This program should recognize CD UPC or ASIN numbers.

If the program also could convert WMA to MP3, that would be nice.

Is there a program out there that does this? Is it free?

Any programs that can do some of this?
If I attempt to edit all these files by hand mb_madhacker:

I'm afraid what I might do to my computer. mb_badpc:

One name comes to mind.. "Cakewalk" from http://www.cakewalk.com/support/kb/reader.aspx/2007013032 .
An older company, with a somewhat 'new' name.
You might want to presort your collection by gender type.. jazz, rock, classical and such. Even by artist.
I have over 5 gigs of assorted media files.. of all forms! One of t;he better MP3 'ripper' programs I found was Gamut 98 from Formosoft.

I've heard of Cakewalk before but I don't think it will work for me. confused

I'll take a look at that Gamut 98.

But just to make sure my goal is understood, I rephrase it.

I need a (free) program that can organize my music collection which is
76.9 GB of mostly MP3.

If the program also could convert WMA to MP3, that would be nice
A program that can recognize CD UPC or ASIN numbers would be great.

I did find a few programs myself. Has anyone had experience with any of these? Can they do what I need them to do? Is anyone better than the others? LMK, thx. lachen

One other 'freeware' offer is from Gizmo.. http://www.techsupportalert.com/content/best-free-music-players-and-organizers.htm
But as to Real Player (or Real Audio) I don't trust their offerings. Some years ago, they were notorious for malware and tracker cookies!
Media Monkey is well rated, may be a good bet. Some "ripper" or conversion programs have minimal loss of audio quality.. but most delete the quieter notes of audio passages, to reduce file size. But those "quiet" notes add ambiance and life to audio. Any conversion of format must be a one-step process.. or quality is lost.
But any Web site that throws pop-up ads or banners at you is a site to be avoided.. especially warnings about "possible virus" or "security" issues on your system!!
