|
|
Thinking of replacing my old motherboard with an Asus P8Z77-V LX using an Intel i3-3225. The board is ATX form facotr, but less than the normal 9.6 inch width (actually 8.6 inches). It uses only six, not nine screws for attachment. Will this present any issue, especially since the MB extends out about an inch beyond the mid-screw placement. _________________ Asus P4P800SE MoBo

It will fit, but it means you cannot use the lower 2 5.25" bays for optical drives... _________________ I have been programming on computers since the ZX81.

No quite sure I understand how this relates to the optical drives. _________________ Asus P4P800SE MoBo

5.25" optical drives are long, so will hit the motherboard on the lower two 5.25" bays if you use them... _________________ I have been programming on computers since the ZX81.

If this shorter board is used in a micro-ATX case it may be an issue.
If using an ATX case it will be fine. Just make sure you support the underside of the board with your finger when pushing in any connectors at that side (IDE, power etc). _________________ We hate rut, but we fear change.
