Heres a good cheap one on the ATI/AMD front...
6450
And heres a good cheap nVidia equivalent
520
If you are running VM's, mid to high end cards are not necessary at all, until VirtualBox, VMware and the like sort out graphics drivers... _________________ I have been programming on computers since the ZX81.

Hi,
Thanks for your advice. Unfortunately they are NOT available here.
There are NOT many selections for me with 2G memory.
I found following video card with 2G memory. I can accept their price;
1)
ASUS DI-EN630G2 GT630 PCI-E 2GB DDR3
ASUS GT630-2GD3 GeForce GT 630 2GB DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 Video Card
http://www.jr.com/asus/pe/ASU_GT6302GD3/
Still nVidis technology
2)
Sapphire HD6670 w/HDMI+DP+Dvi PCI-E 2G DDR3
http://www.greendust.com/Graphic-Cards-sapphire-ati-graphic-card-radeon-hd6670-2gbddr3-p-11420.html
Comment would be appreciated.
I'll ask the folks on Ubuntu forum about the ASUS card. Whether there is driver problem

Ok it seems you are in an exotic location if you list one dealer in USA New York and on in India. Where are you living? _________________ We hate rut, but we fear change.

Wow, completely confused now. The HIS Silence H645H2G is actually being produced in there.
What is the name of one of the bigger computer stores in there? Surely they must be selling them? _________________ We hate rut, but we fear change.

Ah,
I found HIS here in Hong Kong.
http://www.jumbo-computer.com/pricelist.aspx?id=5&brand=HIS&desc=&sort=0
Unfortunately it is a Chinese website
I also found
HIS HD6450 PCI-E 1G DDR3 [Low Profile] HK$ 330
but with 1G memory only. It is a cheap video card. All HIS video cards with 2G memory are quite expensive.

gives some options for a GT520 variant with 2GB |
Those graphic cards listed by the search engine are inexpensive
Inno3D GT520 2GB Graphics Card spec
http://www.getprice.com.au/Inno3D-GT520-2GB-Graphics-Card.htm#more-details
Its price is quite interesting, 2G memory. I never used the graphic card of this brand before. I have no idea whether their quality being reliable? Anyway after sorting out having available driver for Linux I'll try it.
No 2G memory

Other than that it's quite difficult to find decent shops where the language is english on the website. Have you tried one of the larger shopping malls? |
I only did online shopping. After having finalising my selection on mobo and graphic card I'll make a physical visit to 2 biggest computer and component malls here.
